Dr. Heather Starling, the eye doctor at Starling Eye Group, makes it a policy to ensure that all staff members are up-to-date on the latest eye care developments and technology to make your visit as comfortable and effective as possible. Since optometric technology is constantly changing, it is important to select an eye doctor who possesses all the necessary optometry qualifications and follows the latest advancements in eye care.

Dr. Heather Starling, Diplomate American Board of Optometry

Dr. Heather Moose Starling is a Board-Certified Optometric Physician and has been practicing in Gainesville for over 20 years. She specializes in primary family care optometry, including specialty contact lens fittings and has a special interest in diagnosing and managing eye disease.
Dr. Starling received her B.S. in biology from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and her B.S. in visual optics from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1995 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency in primary care optometry and ocular disease at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. In 2017 she achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She is also a member of the National Glaucoma Society and a professional member of the American Diabetes Association.
Dr. Starling began Starling Eye Group in 1998 and has a passion for making sure her patients receive excellent care. She implements all of the latest technology and instrumentation in order to practice at the highest level.
In her leisure time, Dr. Starling enjoys spending time with her husband Troy, daughter Reagan, her Golden Retriever Sophie, and her horse Eddy. Dr. Starling enjoys wake boarding and boating with her family, riding dressage, and going to Gator football games.
Dr. Marc Robinson, Optometric Physician
Dr. Marc Robinson is a licensed optometric physician and certified Florida Gator. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2012 where he completed pre-optometry studies and earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Behavior. Dr. Robinson then attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016. Dr. Robinson completed extensive training in treatment and management of eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center here in Gainesville.
Dr. Robinson has a strong background in fitting contact lenses including astigmatism and multifocal lenses. He enjoys being able to provide clear vision for patients in all stages of life and embraces new technology and treatments uncovered through the latest research. Dr. Robinson is a strong advocate for regular eye exams to evaluate eye health and prevent vision loss.
Sarah is an Apprentice Optician and Certified Paraoptometric Technician that has been with Starling Eye Group for almost 7 years! Recently she completed her ABO Certification and is continuing on the path to becoming a Licensed Optician. Sarah loves to spend time with her husband and 2 kids in her free time and also loves gardening and cooking.
Lauren is a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant and has been with Starling Eye Group since 2015. Lauren attended the University of Hawaii and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Project Management. Her favorite things include being with her husband and 2 kids, going on day trips to the beach, and snowboarding.
Melisa is a Certified Paraoptometric Technician who is hoping to pursue a career in Optometry. Currently, she is a senior at the University of Florida majoring in Pre-Professional Biology and minoring in Communications. In her free time, Melisa likes to cook, hike, and play with her cat.
Amber is an Optometric Technician. She is currently enrolled at Santa Fe college, majoring in Nursing, hoping to pursue a career as an RN working in Labor and Delivery. She likes to go fishing with her husband and pups in her free time.
Cynthia is an Optometric Technician. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Psychology and hopes to pursue a career in medicine. In her free time, she loves to read memoirs/biographies about the Kennedy family, spend time with her family and friends, and bake.
